The HOPP quizzes

Useful, personalised information about your health. In 1 minute and a few questions, each quiz helps you better understand your pain or situation, without waiting for an appointment.

Good to know: These quizzes don’t make a diagnosis. They combine signs recognized in the scientific literature to give you an initial orientation, to be confirmed if needed by a real assessment.

Why take a quiz before digging further

Faced with a pain, the first difficulty is often knowing where to start: does it look like this injury or that one, should you worry, should you see someone right away? Each HOPP quiz answers one precise, frequently asked question, in 3 to 5 closed questions, to give you a clear orientation in 1 minute rather than a 2000-word article to read start to finish.

The questions draw on recognized clinical signs (pain location, triggering factors, warning signs) rather than general impressions, and each quiz page cites the scientific publications it relies on. It’s the same triage principle a health professional uses to quickly direct care.

Our take: A 1-minute quiz never replaces a real assessment, but it keeps you from getting stuck not knowing where to start. It’s a first step, not an end point.

Back and hip

Back pain and pain radiating into the buttock or leg are among the most common reasons people seek care, whether they’re athletes or not.

Ankle and foot

Ankle sprain or pain under the heel: two very different situations, but both come up just as often in runners and in most sports involving changes of direction.

Knee and shoulder

The runner’s knee and the swimmer’s or thrower’s shoulder are two joints heavily stressed by repeated movement, with causes of pain that often look alike on the surface.

Muscles and training management

Sore muscles, overtraining, the question of rest: these three topics affect every athlete at some point, well before a real injury shows up.

Where to start

One last question often comes up before even discussing a specific pain: who should you turn to first?

Frequently asked questions

Do HOPP quizzes replace a medical opinion?

No. They are general self-assessment tools that give an initial orientation based on signs recognized in the scientific literature, not a diagnosis. If in doubt or if a worrying sign is present, see a doctor or take your HOPP assessment to go further.

How long does a HOPP quiz take?

About 1 minute. Each quiz fits into 3 to 5 closed questions, designed to give you a clear orientation without having to describe your pain in your own words.

What are the quiz results based on?

Each quiz combines recognized clinical signs (pain location, triggering factors, warning signs) drawn from peer-reviewed scientific publications, not simple intuition. Sources are cited at the bottom of each quiz page.

What should you do after taking a quiz?

Depending on your result, the quiz page directs you either to content to understand your situation, or to the HOPP assessment to start a personalised programme, or to a doctor if a warning sign is present.
